The surgeon brings tremendous knowledge, a valuable skill set, and unique perspectives to the interventional environment, and the cross-trained surgeon is positioned ideally to make the most informed and unbiased treatment decision for patients with coronary and endovascular disease. Moreover, advances in surgical techniques, such as lesser-invasive approaches, robotics, novel valves and repair procedures, use of intraoperative imaging, novel devices, and optimal pharmacotherapy, are continuing to improve outcomes for patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
With the expansion of hybrid surgical and interventional revascularization for coronary artery disease and the growing use of endografts as primary therapy for aortic aneurysms, the contemporary surgeon has never had more options available for the treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease. This diversity has created the imperative for a comprehensive course providing contemporary and cutting-edge review and discourse for the evolving surgeon.
Co-sponsored by the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), TCT for Surgeons is an in-depth course focusing on novel and advanced surgical techniques for surgeons interested in the most contemporary surgical techniques and catheter-based approaches.
